Jennifer Cruise and Bob Mayer, Don't Look Down.

I tried. I didn't like it. I had to skim whole sections. I don't like thrillers. There wasn't enough time to get to know the people as people. It felt rushed. It felt cartoonish. J. T. was a walking cliche, not a human. I didn't believe the love story. There were even plot holes, for cryin' out loud.

Jenny, write Gloom's love story and I'll forgive you. But no more army stuff.

I have it too, and I've never been able to get beyond the first few chapters. Sounds like I am not missing anything.

I picked up in hardback, in support of JC on principle [I rarely, rarely, buy books any more], and tried to read it on the long RV trip back from Mexico. I put in down in favor of the current Vanity Fair and it hasn't been calling to me from the bookshelf. Nice to know I'm not alone. The first couple of chapters read like a C movie.

Echoing the other comments, I'm so relieved it's not just me! I wanted to like it so much, because I usually enjoy JC's books and the collaboration sounded like such a fun idea. I love their He Wrote, She Wrote blog, too. But the book just didn't hold my interest.
