Last night Casper and I made cardboard swords. (This occasioned a perfectionist meltdown by Casper, which was interesting. mr. flea and I looked at each other and shrugged, "She comes by it honestly.") They got floppy very quickly so I stiffened them by taping a ruler and a long comb to the back sides. Then we played Peter Pan and Captain Hook with great gusto for as long as the poor parent could hold out.

I should note that mr. flea tried to introduce Casper to The Princess Bride last weekend and SHE DIDN'T LIKE IT. I hope it is merely because she's too young for it, and not that she is some FREAK OF NATURE WHO CANNOT BE THE CHILD OF MY LOINS.

Dillo is back at school today, although he sounds like a 2 pack a day smoker. Such a pathetic croak/cry! He's like a puppy now - say, "Walk?" and he lights up and starts grabbing for your fingers so you can walk him around the house. I've gotta say, though, my house is sure boring when you're circling the living room for the 27th time.

In closing, in a fact which will I hope amuse coworker(s?) on my friendslist, I had a dream last night that someone had written an erotic RPF featuring the head of Systems at my workplace. I am distinctly scarred by a description of his gabardine pants and what was under them. The gentleman in question is in fact pretty attractive, and a sharp dresser, although he doesn't especially ping my lust-meter personally. And this was WAY TMI for my innocent dreaming self. Helps!

mr. flea called this morning to report that while he stepped out of the bathroom to put on pants, Casper took my deodorant and dabbed it all over her face, and it says on the back to call Posion Control if ingested, and should he be worried? Since he washed her face immediately, and she hadn't bitten the stick or otherwise visibly ingested any, I told him I think she'll be okay. He gave her some milk just in case, to dilute anything.

So much for sense increasing with age! Apparently she treated it like "lipstick" which in our house means Burt's Bees lip balm, which she is allowed to apply and loves.

Her play at school is much more social now. I think it has been for some time, but it's gotten to the point where she talks about social play and her school friends. Right now Duhlivia and Delancey are her best friends - they are identical twins and big outdoorsy girls like Casper. Duhlivia is really named Olivia, of course, but Casper insists on pronouncing it Duhlivia. They play games during outside time that involve chasing Matthew Ya (who used to be in their class but now is in another) and he says "grrr!" and they "put fire on him" apparently using rocks as lasers or something. Evan "makes everyone giggle" and Jasleen is getting a new baby sister and goes ice skating and Casper wants skates, too, "pink ones" so she can ice skate.

She knows who Santa Claus is, and knows he lives at "the south pole."

She's been especially interested in Madeline this week - we have the first book and also Madeline's Rescue, plus a Madeline doll. When we read before bed Casper recites the book along with the reading parent.

Very interested in verbal games, especially rhymes.
