While the sleepyheads slept in yesterday I worked on de-shaggifying the backyard. Clover and grss grows up around the daffodil debris, and cannot be cut down until the daff leaves go brown, at which point everything is too shaggy for the reel mower, so it needs to be trimmed by hand. I also planted pole beans, carefully following the instructions to plant 7 per pole - they give you a total of 56 seeds, so it's all worked out for you. Must construct second pole setup after the broccoli is done. And some carrots, we'll see how that goes. Watered for the first time this summer as despite many days of overcast and threatened rain, we haven't had any in some time.

Dahlias are flourishing leaves, calla lilies poking up, no action on the freesia front. My (ugh peach-colored) glads have made leaves but no stems yet. Four o'clocks from last year have returned all by themselevs in two places, and are quite welcome. The rose (New Dawn) has about 8 buds and seems to be thriving although I belatedly realized I planted it wrong (not deep enough) but the associated memfault climby thingy is looking a little spindly.

I have two baby-fist sized broccoli heads to harvest, and ate all of the shell peas and some of the snow peas from the second planting over the weekend. The second planting was defitiely too late for the shell, though the snows are doing okay (I think I deliverarely picked a heat-tolerant snow).

Next to do: plant some canteloupe.

The streak of good sleeps has reached 5 nights. I have now resolved to wear the same socks every day. The haircut is still cute in the morning (pictures coming soon) and I managed to say "my baby!" rather fewer times today. Am in desperate need of a haircut myself.
