We missed the opening of the farmer's market last weekend due to pukiness, but this weekend came home with strawberries, spinach (supplemented by home-grown), sweet potatoes, tomatoes (greenhouse grown but in dirt), and a smoked mozarella from Chapel Hill Creamery. And four heirloom tomato seedlings (from three different vendors): 2 brandywines, a cherokee purple, and a green zebra. Came home, planted, did some general chores. I have some tulips in bloom - the 4 mystery tulips mr flea got at the supercomputing conference are short, yellow with white edges and a little bit fringed. Wisteria and dogwoods have gone to full bloom.

The big pink chair arrived today. It is BIG. Casper napped in it a little and drooled. It is christened.

Casper is coming down with a cold (Ellen's from last week) and spent today quite tetchy. It felt like a not-much-accomplished weekend, but we pulled it together and had a nice dinner of sweet potato fries, spinach salad with mushrooms and bacon, and smoked mozarella on crackers tonight.

I won the basketball pool (yes, I didn't know whether or not I'd won until today. I knew I'd picked Carolina to win, but I couldn't remember anything else about the bracket!

Ooh. Local smoked mozzarella; nifty. Cherokee purples were my favorite; they have a deep winy taste like nothing else.

That dinner sounds lovely and simple. I need to build a repertoire of such meals...
