Yes, folks, I am on a numbered list kick.

1. I am still super-unmotivated. Caffeine doesn't help. Sugar doesn't help. Argh.

2. Yesterday was possibly more social activity than I normally see in a month.
2a. Old!Nanny came by and Casper didn't remember her but was cute and charming. Hadas and her mother came too (Old!Nanny used to sit for Hadas) and Hadas did remember her. Hadas (who is 2.5) did pee pee in our potty and Casper was very interested.
2b. Park Mommies night out was interesting. After a wallow in the inevitable "real estate prices and related gossip in our neighborhood" convo that even I am getting tired of, we had some good talking. One of the mommies works for Looniversity OIT, I discovered, and I like her. Her son, who is 2, wears sunglasses every time he comes to the park. She also described how the cracked sidewalks in the neighborhood drive him crazy; when she wheels him in the stroller, he constantly says "Stop shaking me mommy!" because he is afraid he will spill his tupperware of cheerios. He cracks me up, the little control freak. The one person I didn't know seemed nice but not my social type - she works doing PR, and god knows people who have a talent for PR are not my social type.

3. Casper adores pistachios. Unfortunately, since they come through her digestive system whole, she is clearly not getting any nutrition from them. Still, they stopped a tantrum yesterday.

4. The chair-delivery people have not called. I want my new chair!

5. My mother is angry at me for buying a chair and not buying mr. flea a laptop. I spoke to her sternly last night on the phone and followed up by email this morning, since I am furious: it is none of her business, the chair cost less than 1/3 of a laptop, mr. flea admits that he only wants and does not need a laptop, I am not prohibiting mr. flea from buying a laptop - our finances and unwillingness to spend money on expensive toys are prohibiting mr. flea from buying a laptop. Also, it is none of her business. Did I mention, none of her business? mr. flea believes she is projecting from her marriage to my father (which ended 23 years ago, people!) during which she feels he made all the decisions and did not allow her spontaneity. Note to all watching: mr. flea and I have a much healthier partnership than that, even though I am kinda bossy. Grrrr, mother.

6. Tuesday night had a wonderful bath time with Casper. She stayed in a long time and for the first time was really trying out the idea of swimming in the bath: lying on her front, putting an ear down in the water. I called her my little fish and she made the fish noise. I'm having trouble articulating what was so special about this particular half-hour. It was. I think I'll do Saturday AM swimming lessons for toddlers at the Y with her this summer. She clutched her butt during the bath and said, assertively, "MY butt!" Also peed a little standing up in the tub and noticed and called it pee pee which I think harbors well for the eventual potty training, since I hear tales of 2 year olds who still aren't even aware when they pee on the floor.

7. I love to watch Casper's orderly mind. My Levis have started to wear through in the knees, and she noticed and was quite concerned ("UH-OH!"). She wanted all her dolls and animals to sit on the Fisher-Price doggie xylophone last night: Baby and Dolly and Piggie and the polar bear and the big purple bear all in a line. She likes things just so. I suppose I have got a little control freak too.

Grrr mother, indeed. Spontane on her own time, she can.

Casper learning she can control the order of things is wonderful. Also wonderful when she discovers how disorderly she can be. Little anarchists, all of them.
