it's 5 am...

I've been mostly awake since 2:30. Here's how it's going. Casper went to sleep with no crying at about 7:45. Cried at 9:15 for a few minutes - mr. flea went in and gave her a hug and told her to go back to sleep. Cried at 11 or so and he went in to her room and from that point slept on the futon in her room (we agreed he could sleep in the room with her but she had to sleep in her crib). Quieted quickly. Cried at about 2:30 and has been sleeping for short stretches (10 minutes to half an hour), crying for a minute or two, back to sleep, ever since.

mr. flea reports she doesn't seem to much care about nursing, but wants very much to sleep on the futon with him.

A guess the bright side of the sleepless night is that Casper seems okay with the weaning? Still, I wish I could send some sleep your way. It sounds like all three of you need it.

Nonononononono NO. The purpose of this is to give you your own nights back, and for her to learn to sleep alone.

Sounds like things are going fairly well, really.

In the meantime, why don't you try some Tylenol PM while Mr. Flea is on Casper Night Patrol? It's really just Benadryl, but it make a lot of people (like me) sleep much sounder and longer.

If it's any comfort, I woke up this morning at about 5am, due to a cat walking stealthily (not) on my hair. She proceeded to stick her nose in my ear and flop down in a heap next to my ribcage.

Yeah, I got nothing.
