I have found that I regularly get scrwey friends' lists when I use my normal style on LJ. I just changed to "classic" style 2 (I had a style 1) and it's all better now. But I don't liiiiiiike style 2. I liked my old style. Anyone have insight into what's up?

(Not that I should complain about what is to me a free service. Maybe Casper's rubbing off on me. Noooo!)

Notes mainly of interest to self:
Need Xmas present idea for nanny, in addition to cash bonus. what is appropriate amount of bonus? I was thinking $200 from us alone = 1 week's pay; other family (the rich family I whine about) suggests $100-200 total from all of us. Nanny is giving Casper a gift, grapevine says. Maybe make something cute (Casoer art) in addition to real present.

What does Casper want for Xmas (i.e. what do I want for her)? Art supplies - finger paints, tempera paint, easel, plastic smock. Remember to google for play doh recipe and make some. Music supplies - xylophone, drums. Books. A doll or toy with zippers, buttons, laces, etc - like the old dress-me toys. (Casper loves velcro.) What I do not want: stuffed animals. noisy toys. (mr. flea scolded his parents for getting her a stuffed robin that chirps - which I find charming, actually. He has a little rant about no battery-operated toys. And now thay are so paranoid about what to get her that I think they are getting a gift certificate - to ToysRUs, natch, which of course abounds in - loud electronic toys! I suppose we can buy legos if they do.) Family pass to the local Museum of Life and Science. She's pretty good on clothes for the nonce, though she still lacks stripey tights and a solid color dress to wear them with. (Oooh, we bought her real shoes at Stride Rite yesterday. Navy nubuck ankle boots in 7W, and they're darling, and she can actually walk in them NOT like a dinosuar, unlike the sneakers. Grammy paid for them, which since they were $37 on sale was nice. What a racket! And she'll outgrow them in 3 months. At which point we will buy her red buckle shoes like I wanted to this time.)

What do I want for Xmas? Clothes, esp. work clothes. Cardigans in dark jewel tones, wool/cashmere. Actually I saw some cute cable sweaters at Sears the other day in wool/nylon/angora for $22. Yes, I have taken to shopping at Sears, but you know, I think I just used to be a snob. Sears is fine if you want Levis and Dockers and men's underwear, which is what I was buying. Back to me: More Dockers for Women pants (I did not have time to check them out when I was at Sears - the child was growing restless.). I think I am down to an 8 this year. Wool socks, per usual (I luv Smartwool). Cute stuff for my short hair - headbands, sparkly clips. (Got a haircut saturday and it is back to cute, not shaggy). Knee-length a-line tweed skirt. Long straight black skirt - or bias-cut - in something practical, to replace my worn out crepe georgette agnes b skirt I wore with everything, to everything.

What does mr. flea want? Who knows. I bought him some needed clothes at Sears. He needs new glasses. He WANTS gift certificates to iTunes. But there's a limit to that! (Or, well, maybe not.) He hasn't read any of the books I got him last year. He wants an iPod sleeve/cover/snugli/whatever. Maybe a gift certificate to yoga classes, so he will actually GO TO SOME. Difficult man.

Have you been to Yoga Spot? I really like some of their teachers, and they sell pass cards that could be used like gift certificates. Here's their web site: http://www.yogaspot.com/ They're located downtown, near the Durham Board of Elections (just a block off of Duke St., I believe).

Yes, it was Yoga spot I had in mind. I went to a post-natal class there once - it was amusing, as one of the babies was old enough to be mobile, and kept having to be chased. Casper, at that time 2 mos. old, assumed a lying down position and chilled. It was good; it's a good space, too. And very handy to us. mr. flea really likes yoga, and has free classes at his school, some taught by a friend, but it's hard to get him to do something unless you make it an obligation. And then he likes it.

What browser are you using? How exactly is it screwy?

I've noticed since I switched browsers to Firefox that it doesn't always render posts properly if the first line of the post is shorter than the width of the screen. (Something you've been doing a lot recently, I'll just note.) Instead of filling the area side to side, the post limits itself to the width of the first line, making it look like very bad poetry. When someone starts a post with something like "Call me Ismael," the formatting is nasty, indeed. Usually it goes away if I refresh the page.

I use IE on PC for work, on a mac at home (we HAVE safari, but my bookmarks are all in IE, and safari makes yahoo mail all weird.) This has happened in both machines.

I get weird displays in friends list only - my own entries look fine. Happens to all friends posts. There are changes to background color and formatting - the color that is usually the border of the page forms the entire page, and the text gets as wide as the screen. When I refresh the page this does not change. I also stop getting the most recent posts when I refresh - it's like I get stuck. When I changed styles this morning, I got more recent posts I had missed in my old style. This happened one day all day last week, and then it was better.
