no, teeth, sleep, etc.
Nov. 22nd, 2004 11:50 amI am a baaad baaad non-updating mama.
No: In the last week she has discovered this word. I am told "mine" is next. Our "no" is high-pitched and whiny and often repeated several times. I do rejoice though that Casper brought out "yes" far in advance of "no." For maybe a month now - if I say "Do you want to nurse?" she nods her head yes. VERY cutely. So I suppose I'll accept no.
Teeth: boy are molars slow to emerge. Casper's lower right is about half through the skin, and her uppeds are both through in points. Lower left is the slow one. They're creeping out increeeeedibly slowly. Don't seem to bother her, though.
Sleep: We are doing okay. It's variable. She's been going down without crying more often than not for 6-8 weeks, which is such a pleasure. She nurses and gets sleepy and I put her down and she either rolls onto her tummy and curls up (in yoga child pose), or if she's less sleepy will lie on her back and grin sleepily at me as I touch her nose and shut out the light. She's still up at least twice and often 3 times in the night to nurse, and there's little pattern or reason. For a while we were regularly getting 2 four-hour stretches of sleep, and now we are back to one. A new thing is that mr. flea often gets her, brings her to me in bed so she can nurse, then takes ner back to bed. I never get out of bed! This is a great idea. I think it started because with cold weather I'm cold sitting there on the floor in her bedroom in my underwear nursing. Which I still do sometimes.
Fell and badly bit her lip at the park yesterday. Makes all kinds of funny mouth noises - like a fish, little pops, ! clicks. For fun. Still mostly only saying "guck" for words I know she knows. Like, I've HEARD her say "doggie," so I know "guck" for dog is laziness, or something. And "guck" sounds nothing like "shoe"!
My neighbors had a baby on the 14th, and they were at the park yesterday briefly. Week old babies are SO TINY. L. looked very tired. I wanted to do something (and we will feed them one of these days, etc.) but what she needs most is sleep, and since she's breastfeeding, there's not much can be done to help.
