Note that Charlotte is up to 10, but after Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, I am sure it will rise next year. (I am surprised the Windsors chose such a trendy name; my (hypothetical) money was on Alice.)

Dillo's name is slowly falling at 204; Casper's name continues to skyrocket and is at 16 (was 88 in 2003 when we named her; happily the nickname she uses is 460); I am still slowly rising around 400 and mr. flea is steady at #7, after decades in the top.

I am surprised Charlotte is so high even pre-Princess! It sounds terribly old-fashioned to me.

The Pip continues to hang out in the low top 20; SteelyKid still rising slowly, from 62 the year of her birth to 44 last year; I am surprised to be as high as 207 given that Kate is usually a nickname; and Chad continues to fall.

One of the things I've always found weird about UK naming conventions is the habit of using nicknames -- so Jack has been more popular in the UK than John, and the short version of Spartacus' name is more popular than the full version. In teh US it sems to be the opposite.

I just had a terrible moment of, Oh my god, what would you shorten Spartacus to??

...never mind.

I did notice that Liam and William are #2 and 4 this year. That's going to make for a difficult first grade class in 6 years.

No, despite A's best efforts, we did not really name him Spartacus. Although if we had, we would surely call him Sparty.
