Names of children at the park: Molly, Fedora (girl), James and Adam, Jonah and Evan, Ryan and Maggie, Maya and Alexa, Wilder (girl) and Annabel, Annabel, Gabriel, Emmett, Elle, Eleanor. All under age 3.

We have some social activities scheduled for the weekend. I hereby apologize to the universe for not replying to emails, or replying with regrets a mere day before the event, etc. I am feeling a little overwhelmed, and there's not really a hard reason why. Just tired. I am worried about mr. flea and his work; my work is no fun and too stressy; I hate leaving the baby to go to work now that she's grown up and so fun. The nanny is getting demanding (doesn't want to do care at our house as she feels it aggravates her allergies) and everything is very complicated.

Visited the frat boys next door at 1 am in my bathrobe; they were apologetic and quieted down. Now to tackle our neighbor, whose response to the frat boys was ro rev his motorcycle for 10 minutes at 12:30. Which, I am sure, annoyed the frat boys, but annoyed me more, since I had been sleeping.

Maybe the time change will help.

Two Annabels? And I thought I'd come up with something classic yet blessedly rare. Oh well.

My sample is not statistically significant - don't worry! Just means parents in my neighborhood have classy choices.

Not all of them. Fedora is gonna be miserable.

I think Fedora's parents are spanish-speaking, so I'm hoping it's a name I've just never heard of that is a real name in addition to being a type of hat.

Wilder's my WTF one, but I'm assuming it's the mother's maiden name or something. Still, why couldn't you name the kid "Patience"? "Wilder" is just asking for it during the teenage years. (I should note, currently Wilder is a angelically curly-headed blonde who is nearly 3 and wears lavender rubber boots for choice, and she seems to have a peaceful disposition).

Oh, I was mostly joking, though I would be a little bummed if it became the next old-fashioned name to become wildly popular, since I spent most of my school days having to go by first and last names or, in college, just last name in certain circles. Of course, I knew going in we'd spend a lot of time spelling it, and I've discovered that when you introduce your daughter as "Annabel" sometimes people frown in puzzlement and say, "Abigail?" or "Isabel?" Which means Annabel will spend her whole life annoyed over those things and wishing we'd named her Emily.

Which reminds me, I forgot Isabel and Anna.

At least you didn't inadvertantly name your daughter E. Claire.

Also, yesterday Madeline (forgot her, too) was calling Casper "Steve."

There's no winning the name game.
