At the neighborhood Christmas party last night, sibling set, Bird (f) and Lake (m). Their parents are named Susan and Peter, so I don't even know.

Lake I can almost see, because it's not that far off from Luke or Blake, both of which are reasonable names. But Bird? Bird?!

Birdie (and Bridie) are both historical names, the former apparently derived from Bertha and the latter Irish. Then there's Lady Bird Johnson, whose birth name was Claudia - she got nicknamed as a baby for being "purty as a lady bird" (what I would call a ladybug). But, especially given Lake, this is more like "River" "Rowan" "Thorn" "Oak" etc. The funny thing to me is the parents didn't seem like hippies at all - they were pretty standard Southern preppy.
