Not a sibling or a first cousin, anyway, but I have a reasonable number of second cousins I've never met, mostly based in New England.

She's the absolute spitting image of me, of course. We usually don't look quite that manic.

Why so early a school start?

I'm not sure. I gather it's pretty common in the deep southern US - I've seen it tied to mandated testing (get as many days in before the spring test as possible.) For our town, it works with the university faculty calendar - they end May 20 - but I think these are the dates for the whole state. In NC it was earlier than I was used to - August 24-June 10 - but not like here. I mean, it was 96 degrees today.

Herself has recently developed LEGS. It is jarring.

Casper has always had legs. I have a hilarious picture of her in a bucket swing at like 18 months and she's ALLLL legs.

Our school year runs 8/6-5/20. Whatever.

I think that Herself would probably be happier to be in school right now -- the lag between the end of camp and the start of school is really bumming her out.
