Two new teeth broke through yesterday - upper left lateral incisor in the morning, and upper right central incisor at night. The right lateral is coming soon, too. It's a tooth fiesta in there!

The skin on her knees is all tough and also kind of dirty no matter how much I scrub in the bath. I suppose what really needs scrubbing is our floor!

Took her to the art museum yesterday. First for lunch in their semi-chi-chi cafe, where she was a little rowdy, mostly due to the paper tablecloth overlying the cloth one. Paper makes the girl a wild thing, you know. Also at lunch were a red hat brigade, and later a 3 year old's birthday party. While mr. flea paid the bill she crawled around the hallway, where an old woman said to her husband, sotto voce, "people take babies everywhere these days." And why not? Casper was not very interested in landscape paintings of the Hudson Valley School, on loan from the Wadsworth Athenaeum, but she was patient and quiet. The guard asked "Is she always this good?" (When we go out, people say two things: "She has beatiful blue eyes" and "Is she always this good?") She was sort of fascinated by a marble portrait of Marcus Aurelius, which we inspected on the way to the bathroom. That's my girl.

Despite wearing a dress, she was taken for a boy several times. The dress was blue, and the skirt of it was hidden some times by the sling, but it was floral! Maybe the red monkey shoes were the boy-signifier.

An excellent night last night - slept from 7:30 to midnight with only minor wah wah crying, then until 4:30, then until 7. Rained a lot in the night. The frat boys were up all night, but very quiet - if not for the baby I wouldn't have known. Last summer the previous frat boys were noisy, so maybe this is a good sign for the year.

Harvested 4 better boy tomatoes, none ripe, all knocked down or half-eaten by the evil squirrels who dig in the potted plants on the porch. Note to squirrels: I have not buried any magic nuts in there. Plus, you looked last week.
