To REI to look at renting/buying a big tent

And my FUN* project this weekend:
To the mall to try on pants. I need a pants makeover; I need new pants but don't know what sizes I wear in most brands and don't know what shapes fit and flatter me. So I plan to take my camera and take pictures in the dressing rooms and bring 2 pairs of shoes (Dansko and Keen) to see if shoes matter for length and then I am going to try on an assload of pants - mostly khakis and jeans, but I'll look at dressier wool pants if there are any left. My places to hit are J. Crew, J. Jill, Gap, and Sears for Levis/Dockers/Lands End. I may buy something if I find something, but I'm not planning to buy, since I'm expecting to have to look online to buy talls in any case. But I want to be able to know that J. Crew's favorite fit fits me in an 8, but their city fit gives me muffin tops, or, you know, whatever turns out. God bless major manufacturers who name their fits and keep them consistent. Because if "favorite fit" does fit me in an 8, I can buy them on clearance, or on ebay, and yay!

*I realize this sounds like one of the minor circles of hell to some of you. I am looking at is as a research project. My only regret is that I do not have my sister or mother handy to be my pants buddy. (I only seem to have shopping buddies to whom I am genetically related.) mr. flea will take the kids to the play area at the mall. I can try on stuff really fast when I need to.

Shoes def. matter for length, so I'd say choose a favourite heel height and run with it for everyday work pants.
