Well, new!backup!sitter won't be summarily fired, largely because it's a swap arrangement so I'm not paying him, but I'm sure not using him again. Nice fellow, stay at home father, gentle and great with kids but a total flake. To wit: in front of my house at 8:45 this am (scheduled time was 8:30) I placed Casper in the double stroller and handed him my house key. He was going to walk his daughter to day camp at the synagogue two blocks up, then come back to the house and either spend the morning there or pick up the baby's packed backpack and go to his house. Then deliver Casper to the nanny, down the block from the synagogue, at 12:30, right after picking up his daughter.

At 1pm nanny calls and says she has nothing to feed my baby for lunch, and no!longer!bakckup!sitter! had handed her my house key and said "it didn't work for him". Not that he bothered to call me or anything. Casper usually has a bottle at 11 or so and lunch by 12:30. So nanny fed her various things - happily she is widely eating table food by now, and scrounged up some formula which Casper refused, so eventually my colleague and nanny-share compatriot used her Honda scooter to zip over and deliver a bottle of the milk I made today.

But, really, people! If you are caring for a 9 month old and can't figure out how to unlock the house using a house key that I know works, at least call the mother for help rather than simply not feeding the baby!

The end. Grrrr.
