10 impossible things before breakfast
Apr. 20th, 2007 08:20 amThe Dillo appears to have slept from 8:30 to 4am! I say appears because it is possible that I fed him at midnight and retained no memeory of it at all, but pretty unlikely. I am not a "sleep through night nursing" kinda person.
On the negative, I was up at 2:45 with Casper, who was coughing so much that she peed in her bed. Luckily she hit the plastic-backed pad square on, so I could strip her, deposit her in my bed with sleeping Dillo, strip the bed, put new sheets on, return her to her bed, fetch milk and her stuffed cow, and snuggle with her for an hour before she fell asleep. (mr. flea was asleep on the couch for all of this - I think he was up late reading research papers.)
Then I nursed Dillo at 4:30, roused mr. flea and sent him in to sleep with Dillo, slept on the couch for about an hour, went in and nursed Dillo at 5:30, slept for an hour, woke up, moaned for 10 minutes while Dillo slept and mr. flea snored, got up and had tea and jellybeans, got dressed, Dillo woke at 7, changed dressed and nursed the Dillo, washed my face and brushed my teeth (red letter day!!).
mr. flea called the nurse advice line and they said we should probably bring Casper in (we recall all too well the pneumonia debacle of last fall). We decided that I would take the Dillo to day care early so mr. flea would be free to get Casper to the doctor. One of my favorite bus drivers was charmed by the Dillo, who promptly spit up on my dry-clean only skirt. Dropped him off; teachers seemed not best pleased to have an extra baby at this hour (it messes up their routine, which is carefully balanced to have only as many teachers as they need to maintain ratio before 8:30/9 and after 5 or so.) Rode the bus in my coworker who was also dropping her kid off.
Got to work just in time to open up the desk, so now I'm waiting for questions, which happily are not coming. When I'm done I plan to go look for a card for my graduating student and have some breakfast.
I think that's at least 10 things before breakfast, right? And some of them seem impossible when written down!
