fleaToday is my sixth wedding anniversary. Iron/candy, and what's the use of that?
Got a smidgen of gardening this weekend. It is getting to be the time of the summer when all my plans go awry due to lack of time and it getting too hot and too mosquitoey. But. I planted beans. Am mulching with peat moss to try to conserve water. Cucumbers, tomoatoes, zucchini all flourishing. Lettuces looking okay - we may get some harvest yet. A bit sluggy. The carrots almost entirely failed to germinate, and the beets have been almost entirely eaten by someone - probably rabbits. I pulled out and composted the spinach and peas. Will try another sowing of carrots and beets in that bed.
Planted some gladiolus (wedding favors from last weekend's rather bland wedding). The four o'clocks veejane sent are several inches tall. The package claimed they were indestructible - we shall see if the rabbits find them. Orange Home Depot lily from last year is blooming, and both gift chrysanthemums I planted last fall have come back (single sproutlets each, but look healthy).
Heavy thunderstormy downpours in the night Friday and Saturday - and still the soil is dry several inches down. Must buy sprinkler or soaker hose.
