Born early this morning, to Laura and Joel, a daughter, Kate Frances. Two weeks late; had to be induced!
I was thinking recently of the popular names of my generation (I am 34) and came up with: Jennifer/Jen, Heather, Jessica, Melissa, Stephanie, Alison (various spellings). I have known lots of these in my peer group. Boys are harder: Michael, Brian?

I remember thinking as a 6-year-old that Sean was a stupid way to spell it because the H was missing and it looked like it should be pronounced "seen." Now there's no WAY I'd name a son Shaun or Shawn, but I'd consider Sean if I didn't already know there's no way I could ever convince Dylan to go for it.
