It was VERY Martha Stewart. All the Sweetbriar girls (and I use the term because they do, despite being mid-late 20s) were in kitten heels and skirts. They were all, except the bride, blonde, immaculately blow-dried, and married. (Bride not blonde, not married yet, but still blow-dried). All the Chemistry PhD students were in pants and sensible shoes. Classic Sweetbriar girl quote: "There was one place to hang out (a bar) in [town], and then I moved away and THEN they bult a Talbot's, so I could have had that if they'd done it sooner!" Honey, you are 26. You should not be shopping at Talbot's yet. (Okay, who am I to talk - I am 31 and have started shopping at Lands' End. But only for t-shirts, and because it's online and they have good customer service! I can be hip still! Really!) I liked the groom's mother. My dear friend V. the bride's mother was there unexpectedly and is coming over tomorrow to play. The cake was gorgeous and tasted like dust. Mr. flea brought in the baby when he came to fetch me and there was much cooing but little genuine interest, except by the two (chemistry student) mothers, V. of course, and the groom's mother.

Have now exhausted bitchy spleen. No offense intended to lurking Sweetbriar graduates, wearers of kitten heels, or otherwise blow-dried blondes.

Now at home with shrieky baby. She is so full of beans this week. Slept rather more last night, though up for the day at 6:30.

Memo: write about the "before" house tour.
