party in the USA (subtitle: how I find myself sympathetic to Tipper Gore, of all things)

Casper likes dancey pop music. I like dancey pop music, too! Go us! But it's stunningly hard to safely navigate Youtube for dancey pop music that is appropriate for not yet 7 year old kids. There's a reason Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus are popular - in their videos everyone is fully clothed and the booty-popping is at 6 year old appropriate levels, there are no cuss words or overt misogyny in the songs (Party in the USA isn't even about loooooove!, and Baby is pretty respectful about loooove), and it's happy fun times!

So we watched Baby, then Party in the USA, then Single Ladies, then I had to shut down our video-watching, because I couldn't think of anything to go to next that I would be okay with my kid watching. Some people have songs that are okay, but the video is a serious NO. (Telephone, anyone? And most of Gaga, actually. When we do Lady Gaga on Youtube, I look for videos of American service members dancing along. I am not prepared to explain people tied to a bed in their dance panties, or a bikini made of caution tape.) Black Eyed Peas has some songs Casper loves, but there's a line in Boom Boom Pow that I flinch at, and the stripper outfits in I Got A Feeling - no.

Yes, we may yet descend to purchasing one of those records advertised on Nickelodeon, with hit pop songs re-recorded by kids and with the naughty lyrics changed. Sigh.

Dillo 4 Year Old Checkup

He clocked in at 38 pounds, 41.5 inches, so reasonably close to the "four years, 40 inches, 40 pounds," of old-wifelihood. The said both were 75%ile. He's grown astonishingly this year so far - he's now comfortably in 4T pants, having essentially skipped 3T.

He got 4 shots and a blood draw (for lead I think) and was remarkably stoic. mr. flea reported he didn't cry at all, and historically, he has been a serious crier at shots. He was tested for vision and hearing and did fine. mr. flea said the nurse was wonderful and Dillo was reported to be "the most cooperative patient we've had all week" and also impressed the doctor by counting to 20.
