Casper's dreams
Mar. 8th, 2006 02:58 amCasper generally wakes up about 2 am from a bad dream, the heat banging during a phase of light sleep, or both, or nothing. I wake as soon as she calls out (often 3/4 asleep) and lie in bed listening; I go to her if she can't settle herself and really starts in to cry (most of the time) or listen to her cry out every 5 minutes for half an hour until she quiets (tonight). What she says when she cries out, or when I ask her if she had a bad dream, tells me what her dreams are about: "It's MY chair, not your chair!" "A girl took something away from me." "Daddy said 'no'." The daily traumas of the 2 year old to be worked through in sleep.
I have been awake for an hour, or two or three, between 2 and 5 more nights than not. If Casper didn't wake I think I'd be able to sleep, but her light sleep phase coincides with mine, and once I settle her or she quiets I am just awake. Tired as all get out, but unable to sleep.
Work is eating me, starting with my bottom. Feast or famine. I'll talk to the student tomorrow about adding some hours to his schedule.
