A woman I work with died unexpectedly Monday night, I think from an embolism or a stroke or something. Not someone I knew well or worked with closely, but I served on a committee with her. It makes me think about that very strange relationship we have with many people at work, and also, sometimes, neighbors - no real personal connection, but a sort of unthinking reliance on their existence in one's universe. And then they go, sometimes.

In less sad news, I have an amusingly complex schedule planned for this afternoon:

12:15: Meet van carrying Casper (driven, unusually, by Rich Family's grandmother) at work; we will both be driven home.

1:00: Having eaten something and transported myself and Casper on foot for 15 minutes, quite possibly through the rain, arrive at my haircut appointment. (I crossed the line between "I hate my hair it is too long" and MUST. CHANGE. HAIR. NOW. yesterday). Somehow, keep Casper contained and quiet while my hair is cut. (My plan involves waiting to feed her lunch until we are at the haircut place and she is in the stroller and I can hand her bowls of beans and peas and other fingerable, best-liked things. I am possibly insane.)

Then, depending on the mood of Casper, stop by the Whole Foods to get something to cook for dinner (otherwise it's spaghetti), home, hope Casper naps, start getting ready to go to Cleveland on Friday.

For all those on tenterhooks: I didn't do anything new or unusual with my hair, but it was $10 less than the normal guy which was nice, and I liked him better to talk to also. Rich Family's grandmother got lost going to The Mother of All Malls so I had to walk to fetch Casper. Si I had n lunch before the haircut but luckily Casper cadged some Kraft Mac n Cheese before zi got there. Casper was a doll at the haircut place and actually fell asleep 10 minutes into it, then slept through a visit to the toy store (didn't have the fridge alphabets I wanted), visit to the Whole Foods (pite, feta. tomato, applesauce, potato chips - what, I had no lunch!), walk home, and then slept for more than an hour in the stroller in the living room. Then park, then none of the chores except cooking dinner I was supposed to do and now I'm tired and rambling and want to go to bed but feel like I should accomplish something. Feh. Oh, must telephone night shift person at work to interview her for stupid pointless newsletter. Double feh.
