Three days in a row sick is not fun, especially for those of us with hardy constitutions who are rarely sick and then completely frickin' annoyed with life when they do get sick. Three days in a row sick, and the first two of them home alone with a sorta-sick kid - so not fun. Thank god today is a nanny day, and Casper is pretty much better despite her lovely phlegm cough. It's nothing Ellen and the nanny haven't been exposed to.

So, my plans for today include vaccuming, cleaning the toilet which is growing mold in the bowl (why god why), and washing some of the snot-covered sheets. Baking cookies. Making cat-sitting arrangements. Writing my last 5 Xmas cards. Big fun! I still don't have a present for mr flea, although I bought him a small thing at the mall yesterday. (Yes, we went to the mall sick. We are bad humans. But I had to get Casper out of the house because I have already sung "We're Goin' To Boston" 67 times in the last 3 days, and it was too cold to go to the park. We didn't touch much and coughed on nobody.)

karma?

mr. flea arrived back home, and is filling jugs with water to take to Rich Family's house so they can flush their toilets. Because a pipe froze and burst in their crawl space last night and they have no water. Now me, I'd insulate the pipes before I painted the exterior or BOUGHT A HUGE PLASMA-SCREEN TV, but that's just me.

(bad, bad evil jealous flea).

We were counting up words Casper knows and there are so many! She is a clever girl! (Remember, she is only almost 16 months old).

up, go ("go go go!"), dada, baba (baby), mmmmmooo (cow), balloon, ball, Anya (Tonya, the nanny; she uses this for me also and basically to mean "yo, pay attention to me, you adult!"), alligator, dog, cat, duck, truck, sock, hat. She calls all apes (gorillas in books, her monkey puppet Maurice) Bobo, after the baby chimp in the book Hug. She makes cat, dog, and cow noises when asked to.

Things she's said clearly at least once: Dander (Alexander), Oliver, more, see-saw.

Very huggy lately, including huggy of stuffed animals. At the same time, quite emphatic and violent with objects - whacks a chair she wants to sit in, whacks mummy, slam down a book on my lap when she wants me to read. I completely understand why someone at b.org said her nephew though the cat's name was Gentle Gentle. She has been coloring a little, though in the 5 minutes I let her have crayons yesterday to make a picture for the nanny she bit the green one and colored on the chair with the red one, and this with me watching her closely. I got the (washable!) crayons for her stocking; also bubble bath, a pull giraffe, and "Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type" (which we have already read several times, whoops.)
