What I now desperately want to name my son:
Idris Elba
(Upon going to imdb, I learn we share a birthday & year!)

What I will never name a child:
Tripper (one of the Frat Boys Next Door)
Breck (Looniversity lacrosse team member)

If my mother had had her way, our names would have been Rachel (me), Roxanne (Jessica), and Beecher (Nick).

WTF?

Tripper is probably a III. I've known a couple of Treys and a Trip or two--short for "triple".

Idris Elba is a tall, muscular, soft-voiced, extremely intelligent black man. Also, apparently, big on the rap scene in London. Perfect name for your son!!

Who names their kid after a shampoo? Only lacrosse parents would do such a thing.

If you're not careful, I will spew another list of "classics" at you, and you'll end up with a kid named Charlemagne.

Idris is a great name. Early (6th c.) king of Wales, and it's also an Urdu name - both with the same meaning, "fiery" according to my bad online sources, which means it derives from good old IE roots. (Note to self - go look in IE dictionary).

I don't think I can convince mr. flea, though.
