lazy

I've been feeling bad about myself and my life lately, and it boils down to: I'm lazy. I do just what's necessary to keep life functioning, and that's about it. And then I'm bored, because I don't have anything to do. This applies to: work, both at my current job and within my overall career (hahahahaha) arc; housekeeping and domestic life (even fun things like cooking dinner); social life (i.e. we have none); and parenting, about which I feel the most guilty of course. The path of least resistance is no way to raise a child, and it's no example to set her either.

And I feel like I should do something about the lazy, but I'm so, um, tired.

I think that North Americans set the bar of personal success far too high -- we can't possibly all be glamourous high-powered size four professionals with three perfectly educated & stimulated children. Meeting the daily round of life with occasional grace seems like a perfectly acceptable standard to me.

But all that said, if you've got a bad case of ennui, then perhaps you do need more challenges. Only you can say.
