Nov. 12th, 2005 01:59 pmmr. flea left this morning for 9 days in Seattle. He promised that if the supercomputing firm from Holland who gave out tulip bulbs at the last supercomputing conference is there again he'd get me some. He also promised not to enjoy himself (he has an irrational dislike of Seattle which is all about him and a cross-country trip in 1993 and not at all about actual Seattle).
We went out like hip parents last night, or maybe it was irresponsible parents, I'm not sure. We walked down to The Federal, a local pub with excellent food. It was very loud and unfortunately smoky - they have a non-smoking room, but it was full, and of course we sat next to the only table in the whole smoking section that was really serious about their smoking. We ate hummus and tabbouleh and then mr. flea shared his bratwurst sandwich with Casper and I had a grilled panini with cheese and avocado and warm tomatoes and vinaigrette-y greens and it was all very nice indeed. Best food I've had in the region besides Magnolia Grill, and affordable enough to do more than once every 3 years. Then we walked down to Morgan Imports where they were having a benefit/kickoff to the holiday season so it was packed and there was a band consisting of white teenage boys in Hawaiian shirts and santa hats playing steel drums. Then I got very very tired from all the noise and people and we came home, and Casper was in bed by her usual time.
Now we are refusing to nap but playing quietly. We almost never get a Sunday nap any more and I almost had her today but then she woke up. Trying to get my act together to do something with this day. (So far: dishes, 1 load of laundry (we got a dryer! I love it! This particular load of laundry was line dry though. I know you were wondering.), filled the bin with leaves. To do: Whole Foods, make soup, watch This Old House.)

Date: 2005-11-12 10:34 pm (UTC)It's cold and miserable here at the moment. If Mr. Flea finds himself at loose ends, bored, or anything, I am willing to attempt to rehab the city for him. (Would that you and Casper could have joined him.)
