Cute and/or memorable recent moments:

Neighbors gave us their plastic kiddie table and chairs Sunday afternoon. When mr. flea came home, Casper ran to him shouting "new table!"

Yesterday I folded laundry as Casper said "Daddy big shirt" every time I folded one of mr. flea's t-shirts. I took my and mr. flea's piles into our bedroom, saying "I'll be right back," but Casper followed me with her pile of laundry, saying, "I helping!"

She puts her plastic pumpkin or her kitty purse on her arm and says, "Bye bye! See you later!" Then doesn't go anywhere.

She's very into the song 'Head shoulders knees and toes' which is played on the Baby Einstein body parts DVD, also a current fave. To get us started she'll pat her head and sing (in key) "head..." but she doesn't do the rest very well.

She watched Teletubbies a few weeks ago, one time, and loved it. Since we have a bizarre little thing about singing the Teletubbies song sometimes, we've been singing it. She can do "Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa (pronounced Yaa Yaa), Po (she says Po Po)" and then the "big hug!" part. She says "Teh-bubbies."

We got a fridge alphabet and she lines the letters up in long strings all smushed together. Sort of like archaic period Greeks wrote. When she develops boustrophedon, I'll be impressed. (Okay, I just wanted to use the word boustrophedon. It's a favorite.)

She's such a great kid. How can we even consider having another child and supplanting this one? (Yes, I know love is not finite.)

You want another kid because she'll be a fabulous big sister, showing all the coolest stuff to the next sprog to come along.

The other day Squeaky and I were out rummage hunting and we noticed a family relaxing on their porch with A BABY. And a cat. Squeaky liked the cat. I chatted briefly with them, and asked if I could hold the baby. It was incredible, the tiny little 6 week old -- and then Squeaky came over and demanded to also be held. So I did. Baby and Squeaky. It was fine. And squeaky was gently patting the baby's hand and knee and I think she'd like to be a big sister.

Or maybe play with more cats.

We were at friends' house for dinner on Friday while they babysat their 8-month-old nephew. Nora (17 mos.) liked Sampson a lot -- hugs & kisses etc -- but kept calling him "ditty" , i.e. kitty.
