random facts:

I am in the thores of a hair crisis, and mr. flea, always supportive in a crisis, noted that I now have Ted Koppel hair on a Terry Moran face. Yes, my husband thinks I look like the freak melange of two hideous male newscasters. And yet, he still wants to have sex with me. Hmm.

Casper now calls the cat by name, to wit: "Wennie." (She can't say P - the cat's name is Penny). She waved and said "Bye bye Wennie" when leaving the house this morning. She also has started saying "Okay" in circumstances like the following: Casper: "Book!" Me: "Would you like to read this book?" Casper: "Okay!"

Annales de schmoop:
mr. flea: "You know that when I say 'I love my baby' I'm really saying I love you too, right?"
me: "Yes."

Progress of spring:
I have ipheion, tiny daffodils, and bluebells blooming in the front yard, and a single daff in the back. I have the slowest daffodils on the block - everyone else's are blazing away. Tulips are 2-3 inches above ground in most locations, and grape hyacinth are shoving their tiny flower-bits up (they are very strange to watch develop).

Did a run to the local garden shop to drop off the mower to be sharpened, and came away with a set of spinach seedlings and broccoli. I never meant to plant broccoli, but there they were... The spinach fits neatly in front of the peas. I also got some pansies to pad out the front yard (why do my pansies always look like hell after the winter while everyone else's look fine? Maybe they fertilize.) And planted some cheap mixed color freesias in a big pot.

Bought some grass seed to assist the front yard. It's a fruitless struggle but I'll make the effort at $2.59 for a pound. Raked the front yard (again; how I hate the pin-oak) and picked up all the downed branches from the last round of windstorms.

Rats, I meant to walk around the side of the house this morning to see if anything was poking out of the bulb bed. I'm pretty sure the snow is finally gone over there. We actually broke 50° yesterday.
