Going more or less dark tonight until Aug. 14. We're off to Boston and thence Martha's Vineyard. Also, we're talking about a laid-back ramble in the city this Saturday - maybe picnic, maybe see Robert McCloskey's ducks, maybe Swan Boats, whatever. Anyone interested in joining would be welcome - you can bug veejane about it and maybe we'll formulate a plan.

Casper stands without holding on to stuff briefly now. She continues to be the best baby in the world. mr. flea rembled rhapsodically last night in bed about how fun it is to lie on the floor as she climbs around on him - like a lion whose cubs keep pouncing on the twitchy tail, or a monkey watching the small fry rassle.

She's also so stunning when she wakes up fully rested and makes cute morning noises and you come in to her room and she's standing in the crib and her face lights up.

Good (late) morning. D. and I are talking over who will be picking you all up at the airport. If you don't see me tonight, you won't see me till after I have chopped all my hair off again (Friday).
