I know it's early days yet for local contacts, but you might try quizzing the neighborhood people you've met about daycare options.
Ann, our wonderful daycare lady, is someone I met on the cemetery board; like a lot of small providers, she has no web presence and doesn't advertise, and I never would have met her were it not for word of mouth. And it has been such a comfort to me to have someone so reliable and flexible and easygoing.
