fleaGot bank statement today. Checking account dangerously low. It's not that we did anything exceptionally expsensive - it's just that several small-moderate things added up this month. Car repair, buying a new (used) washer when the old one died, wedding present, extra car seat for baby for use by new!nanny, college reunion, renter's insurance. Next month it'll be plane tickets to MA, car insurance, etc. So we decided not to buy a new futon mattress for when my SIL comes to visit this week, but give them the bed and us sleep on the (ancient, flat and knobbly) futon.
I get paid every 2 weeks and half my paycheck pays new!nanny. mr. flea gets paid monthly and half his paycheck pays the rent. We live on the rest. We live fine - but I get tired of feeling poor. Even though I know we're not, really. Just, poorer than our peer/aspirational group. Poorer than the neighbors. Poorer than the Joneses.
