So, my Freecycle experience continues. Three claimants having failed to steel themselves to the sticking point and make an appointment to pick up the things (2), or having made an appointment, failed to honor it (1), the latest correspondent asks me why am I getting rid of the cat cosy, is there anything wrong with it, is it dirty and how do I clean it.

Good grief. I am getting rid of it because my cat is fat and it is a hideous carpeted thing I do not want in my house. It is carpeted, so it can be vacuumed. IT IS FREE FOR FUCK'S SAKE.

I am starting to think fondly of the dump, I tell you what. I'm giving Freecycle one more chance with the boxes, when I finish pulling them from the basement, and then it's Goodwill all the way.

In good news, Moving Contractor came to visit this morning and mr. flea reports they seem ace.

This is sounding a lot like my Craigslist experiences. Any more I am just saving stuff up for the church sale (which I have agreed to co-chair this year) because it is less annoying to run a gigantic multi-family parking lot sale.

There's always "give it to Goodwill." All the advantages of reuse without having to deal with actual people!

Yeah, this is what I generally do. No people is good. It also has the advantage of providing a deduction (albeit a smallish one) on your taxes. The disadvantage is that you have to haul the stuff over there.

My next-door neighbors were just talking about the rudeness and high expectations of people who are getting things for free. Seriously, you might try charging some money for the stuff - you may get more reliable potential customers.

I realized last night that I didn't ever get back to you about your non-functioning washer and dryer (they were non-functioning, right?). Did you find someone to take them? If not please let me know and I will make a call.
