Chuckles has been able to identify every letter of the alphabet since she was 18 months old (in her case, that equals *before she could walk*), but she just had no interest in reading. This was really frustrating to Andy, because his dad taught him to read when he was like two years old and his whole family was so proud of that. And I was just, "Whatever. It'll happen." When she started kindergarten she was still really resistant to the idea of reading, but she didn't have a choice, and once she finally agreed to try, she was reading EVERYTHING within a couple months.

So I suspect she was developmentally ready earlier, but just skeptical. *g*
