Seasonal package tally

Previous to this week:

1 package, wrapped gifts, from MIL and FIL
1 package, not Christmas-related (containing small oriental rugs, which mr. flea informs me were the indirect cause of his grandmother's death, but are still cute), from SIL
1 package, gifts wrapped by Amazon, from father

This week:
Monday: Harry and David thingy, from Mother
Wednesday: gifts wrapped by Amazon, from Grandfather & wife
Thursday: UPS rings bell at 6:30, cheery guy offers to leave packages on porch, which is wise, because one of them advertises its contents very clearly even to non-reading children. Total 2 large boxes from Mother, moved from porch to basement after children are in bed, we are ordered not to open.
Friday: USPS brings Amazon order (mine), box addressed to mr. flea from Nutty, and (drumroll)

LARGE box from my brother, containing wrapped presents! For us!

I did send him something after all, and emailed him to let him know it was coming, and he replied that this box was coming, so I didn't fall down in a faint when I saw it. Our cynicism is such that mr. flea commented, "Maybe that new roommate is a good influence on him."

Packages yet expected:
SIL (Amazon)
White Flower Farm (my order)
at least 4 more from Mother/Sister (not sure who sent which; there was cooperation here).

All unopened boxes AND all wrapped presents are in the basement. I'm not sure which child I trust less, the inquisitive 17 month old or the sneaky-pants 4 year old.

Did I mention I suggested to relatives that we have a minimalist Christmas, because we are too cluttered with stuff?

My grandparents have one of the nation's leading collections of Tibetan saddle blankets (it's a long story). Of course, they're 92, completely non compos mentis, have trouble walking, and we STILL can't get them to take the things up off the carpet. *sigh* Relatives.

Say, did you happen to get a package addressed to you from a Certain Clothing Company a week or two back? (Delivery was apparently made, but it occurs to me I should check in case they sent it to, oh, I dunno, Guam or something by mistake.)

I sent a total of 3 packages -- 1 box addressed to the Mr. (including unwrapped), 1 box and 1 jiffy envelope addressed to all. They're -- kinda small boxes, really. Don't know how many Mother sent.

Also, you will note that I obeyed faithfully any and all rules as set forth by flea & co. inc. I saw the giganto thing Mother was sending and in my head I was like, Isn't that exactly what she didn't ask for? Luckily I did not say that out loud.

I do not know what to make of Brother. He is not attending Boxing Day activities, and informed Mother that he "hates Christmas." And yet?

Yup. Tripped, broke both arms, was lying on the floor unable to get up or get help for 8-10 hours, had a stroke some time in that period, nursing home, downhill from there. She was already in declining health - mr. flea's mother was going over to her apartment every day to help out - but that certainly speeded things up.

Mother said she sent seven, but it was unclear whether she was counting yours in her total. God, I hope so.

Anyway, Casper will be pleased by the Large Thing, and it is a good quality, durable Large Thing (not a Barbie Dream Large Thing).

Oh, boy. We are in receipt of a couple of crappy quality, non-durable Large Things.

Including a large riding thing which is too large to be safe for the baby, but which Herself is way too big for. *shakes head* I keep telling myself that the outlaws mean well, but they really do completely ignore us about what makes for an appropriate gift. And they see the kids maybe once a year, so....*sigh* Well, this is why we have a garage.

C. is not so generous and figures they like watching us squirm.
