I was in high school myself in 1988, but it was on a completely different planet from these folks, I tell you what.
Yeah, it's fascinating. New England just doesn't do high school sports the way they do in Texas (and I think we were better for it). What got me more than anything was the gerrymandering of the school district so that after desegregation the big rich high school got all the black athletes, and the poor high school got the latino kids. Jesus: it's desegregation, and it's still racist!
