We did that in school one year although my egg didn't look anything like the ones in the picture. My favorite egg tradition as a child was making egg trees. They might be a little too much for a 3 year old, but we would make a pinhole in the top of the egg and a slightly bigger hole at the bottom. THey you had to blow like crazy to get all the stuff out. I htink my mom usually had to do most of the eggs. I was happy if I blew out one egg. Then we would dye them, stick a pin in the hole with a piece of of thread, and hang them on a branch cut from the yard. (First we would stand the branch in a pot with sand or something). The egg trees were always very pretty and lasted a long time.
