Something else to consider is the age of all the children involved. A 2-4 year old child will require more attention and supervision than a play-pennable pre-toddler. If the majority of the nanny's attention is on the neighbors' older child(ren), then the majority of the nanny's fee should be paid by parents of the child.
I get that you're not really asking for a 2/3-2/3 split, but reality does factor in. And the reality is, if they "can't afford" the nanny for both their children? Then they shouldn't expect you and the third family to pony up the nanny's fee for their second child.
