We are making an offer on a house. Unfortunately, before we made the agreed-upon offer, Realtor talked to Selling Realtor and learned that Owner's fiance, who is "a well-propertied individual," (no word on whether or not he works for REM) had already turned down several offers and didn't even counter one (which was just a hair below what our offer was going to be.) So, we have to rethink. I suppose paying the list price isn't the worst thing in the world if it comes to that. It's important not to personalize it all and hate Well-Propertied Fiance.

I wonder if we should send a picture of our adorable children to soften his heart? He probably doesn't have one.

Here are way too many pictures of the house (and I didn't even post the ones of the air conditioner, electric box, furnace, crawl space, closets, etc.). Start here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/casperflea/2519982610/

Oh, also?

It's our 10th wedding anniversary! "Tin" is traditional; we are choosing "house." We had a (fancy British - Wentworth) wooden puzzle made of our wedding picture, and we made it tonight. I married such a baby-face! He was 29, but looks about 15.

Further Notes from Athens trip:
Realtor has 4 sons, ages 10-5, all 18 months apart. OY. Can you imagine having a newborn, 18 month old, 3 year old and 4.5 year old? I've had just the 18 month old and the 4.5 year old and that was a lot.

The Grit is a wonderful vegetarian restaurant. With CAKE. Will definitely be a haunt.

Athens is bedecked with large fiberglass bulldogs, like CowParade but bulldogs. Dillo got VERY good at noticing them as we drove around.

They have a tiny little farmer's market - newly in a city park this year. It used to be even tinier and in the parking lot of a bakery. They opened for the season last weekend and had 2600 people and sold out of everything by 10 am. So, I see growth. Makes me realize how much bigger a town Durham is. There don't seem to be a large number of small independent farms around Athens, either.

Georgia is obsessed with football. This will be a change from NC's basketball, I guess. There is a place in Athens that is a gated parking lot, with bathrooms and a shuttle to the stadium, called Tailgate Station. Parking spots must be purchased. Cost: $30,000. There is also a "Gameday Luxury Condos" building downtown.
