So, the buddy boy is 14 months old today! He is walking more and more but still not a fully competent walker. I got a little video of him walking last night but he is buck naked so I am a little reluctant to put it up at YouTube. Must try again tonight. This past weekend we were visiting friends and he commandeered their Little Tikes push/ride on toy and was in glee. Then when we got home he discovered the Radio Flyer push wagon we bought for Casper at this age, and has been pushing it all over the house. It is a rollercoaster of emotion, since when the pushing is going smoothly he is laughing in happiness, but he frequently gets stuck on a piece of furniture or the wall or one of the 400 toys scattered about. And then the whining and shrieking of despair commence.

He has been wearing his new shoes, Stride Rite cruiser shoes that look like baby Keen sandals (ebay! $15 including shipping; they want $48 in the store!). He is a 4W and if they made double-wides he'd fit them. They are very cute and I think he is a little proud to be wearing shoes. (Maybe I am projecting.)

All 4 of his one-year molars are in. No sign of canines; my memory is these are later. He need another haircut; he is getting wisps in the front and a little shaggy over the ears and at the nape. I think the summer lightened his hair a little - it's a light reddish brown, really very pretty. He's still a roly-poly fellow - very chubby in the things and tummy and wrists and ankles and pretty much everywhere else, too.

He dealt okay with the change of venue this weekend, in terms of sleep. We're back to 2-3 wakeups in the night, since the change to the new classroom at school, but it's manageable so far and I hope once he settles in more we will have better sleeping. He's been hard to get down to sleep lately - I think we might need to shift the bedtime a bit later, as he is now taking the big toddler afternoon nap pretty reliably. Last night we had to leave him crying in the crib at 8:30 - he was angry, not scared, and quieted down in about 10 minutes.

He cries when we leave him at school in the morning now. He always has for me, but wasn't doing it for mr. flea. He seems to do okay in the toddler room once the transition is over, though. His favorite place is the "loft" which is three steps up, a 2x2 foot platform with plexiglass sides. He was standing there when I picked him up yesterday.

He butt-boogies to music. He is back to lots of unintelligible talking, not just "duh."

I think he's a pretty cautious kid; part of it is the age, but he is slower to warm up than some and scared of dogs and very cautious with strangers and sensible in his explorations (he likes to climb but does so with sense and care.) He isn't as interested in books as Casper was at this age, but this is our fault, as we are not at all as reliable at reading to him as we were with her. He did enjoy "reading" in the car on the trip some.
