Aug. 2nd, 2006 09:49 amI have been trying since August 18 - that makes 2 weeks now, folks - to get a prescription renewed. I"ve been on this drug for 5 years now, and at the same dose for nearly 4. I get it through my insurance's subcontracted mail-order pharmacy, because that saves me $160 a year in copays. When the scrip comes up for renewal (every 9 months or annually, I forget), the online folks are supposed to contact the doctor asking if he wants to renew.
Except the doctor just moved offices a month or so ago, and although he still works for the same people, apparently nobody can forward a fax, and nobody changed his contact information with the online people. He does have the same email address. So we went around for a week waiting for him to hear from them. He kept sending me emails saying. "I'll take care of it." Then the deadline passed, so they can't renew but need an entirely new prescription faxed in. So I sent him the phone number to call, to get them to fax him the form he needs to fax back to them. This was last Friday. He emailed that he wasn't in the office until Monday. Apparently on Monday he asked the office staff woman (who is new and clueless) to fax his prescription slip to the phone number I gave him. Needless to say this did not result in me getting my prescription, as 1) you can't fax a phone number and b) he didn't use their form.
Now I have glommed on to Jan, the office woman, who is well-meaning despite her cluelessness. I talked to the online folks this morning and they said they'd fax a form to the office for the doctor to fill out, "In the next 10 minutes." Of course, it has not arrived in the office 45 minutes later.
Did I mention this is a psychiatric medication, which I have been almost out of for 2 weeks now, so have been taking a half-dose? Did I mention I have a 3 week old child and don't need this kind of stress? Thank god I'm not on something that, when not taken, renders me psychotic or anything.
I am SO getting another doctor. I wish I could get another insurance, at this point.
