we went to the zoo, zoo, zoo
Mar. 27th, 2006 03:49 pmReally, I should wait to make this post until I have a chance to download the photos and link them, but we did a quickie getaway to Washington this past weekend and it was good.
1. Casper was very good on the two 6-hour car trips. She spent at least an hour on the way up and the way back looking at her picture books peaceably, absorbedly, and quietly. Last night she recited nearly verbatim, from memory, the opening two pages of "Marsupial Sue and the Runaway Pancake," a book we hadn't even brought with us.
2. Casper slept horribly the first night, but fine the second. As a result, me too.
3. It is good to see our friends.
4. It is good to see cheetahs, maned wolves, elephants, giraffes, and river otters.
5. Casper loves "Silly Alan."
6. It is good to get away, even if you have to come back, and even if when you come back you are caught out without any groceries.
7. I finally figured out what "Heinie Day" means. "Heinie" means "high-heeled." Casper clomped around B's apartment in her Bandolinos for some time, and then said, "These are heinie shoes!" Light bulb time!
