perspective
Jun. 28th, 2005 08:42 pmI was coming on to bitch about my crap day - nanny troubles, she can't handle the amazing fussy 4 month old, and we have major disagreements for the fall to work out, and it's humid and nasty, and I miss mr. flea - and got an email from Casper's first nanny. She's finished her first year of medical school and is spending the summer volunteering in Haiti, first at a rural clinic and now at an orphanage (where in addition to actual orphans they do a lot of care of very sick kids who eventually go home to their families). She's in a room with the 12 sickest babies, and spends a lot of time feeding a 2-pound preemie, and on Sunday had another die slowly in her arms (because of cultural taboo about contact with the dead or dying, his father, who was there, wouldn't hold him). So, yeah. Me and my first world problems. We are so lucky to have had such a wonderful person caring for Casper whe she was an infant.
