Sorry to leave the lipstick question hanging for 3 days. Since we were in the car during the time Casper was playing with the lipstick, and I was sitting next to her and watching her like a hawk, it might have turned out okay. However, Casper managed to open the lipstick at the crucial moment when I was giving directions for negotiating a complex highway exit (15-501 to 147). I managed to catch her with one hand completely covered in lipstick, and a couple of faint smears on her face. I re-acquired the now sadly distressed lipstick (it was a $20 Lancome one, too, color: Impulsive) and held onto the gooey hand while my mother ripped up the front page of the New York Times, which proved surprisingly effective in cleaning the hand. My stepfather managed not to crash the car, a welcome accomplishment. The (rental) car stayed clean, and I think there was no permanent harm, except to the lipstick.

Nanny share summer negotiations - GAAAAH. I am the butt-monkey of this project, and must figure out how to extricate myself, practically and emotionally.

The nanny FORGOT AGAIN to drop Casper off at my work yesterday, meaning I had the usual walk now with added fuming anger and despair, plus a 26 pound child on my back instead of in the stroller.

Due to conservation of melodrama, last night was all about "are you planning to actually finish your PhD and get a job, preferably within my lifetime; if so, please to begin making actual progress and working on YOUR work instead of other people's" and "I will quit my job and we can go on WIC and live on your income so I won't have to deal with child care issues and anyway my job is boring and nobody respects me." This morning is better.

I got a really nice email from the professor whose class I audited this fall. He said I was the only student who ever audited his class who actually came and did the work.

Off to How to Handle Stress presentation - it'll take a miracle...
