Last night she only nursed once - at 2:20 - before getting up at 6. She didn't exactly sleep quietly from bedtime on - about 15 minutes of crying when I put her down, and then on and off crying between 10:30 and 11, in addition to a couple of one-cry moments. Still, remarkable.

I do worry that while we are all getting more, and less interrupted, sleep, we've conditioned her to cry upon being put down in the crib. She'll cry for at least a couple of minutes no matter how tired she is. It's angry crying, not upset crying - she wants to be with us.

We can file this under my irrational parent worries - that somehow this whole sleep adventure is going to cause lifelong psychological trauma (after all, the books say it does, sometimes even the scientific doctorly ones!). The other major one is that she's so easygoing tempermentally that she's slow developmentally, mentally and physically. I know this is not the case - she is not unusually precocious either physically or mentally, but neither is she slow; just a nice normal kid. But it's hard to resist the prevailing cultural desire to have your kid hit the milestones fast fast fast - who wants a normal kid when you can have Super-Baby?! Mentally I say feh to this. But sub-rationally, I want my girl to be speeeecialllll. Not healthy for anybody, that.
