state of the Casper: nearly 26 months
Oct. 23rd, 2005 12:21 pmNursing: yes. I'm ready for her to self-wean, but I'm guessing she never will (or not until 5, which is way past my cut-off date.) So the plan is to wean her early in my next pregnancy, or at 3, whichever comes first. She loves her nursie.
Sleeping: pretty well. In big girl bed, long extended bedtome routine, asleep by a little past 9. Up sometimes 4:30 or 5:30, sometimes sleeps past 6. If up early, nursed in our bed and sleeps past 7:30. Has a 1.5 or so mid-day nap.
Potty training: not yet begun. Waiting for Ellen to start so we can do them together. Ellen is 5 months older and I'm not sure what they're waiting for - I'm ready to at least try, though I'm not sure Casper is ready. But then, what's ready?
Eating: has rediscovered an interest in, at last. Eats well, eats most things, same old favorites. Still have trouble getting dinner in her myself - if she won't eat dinner for me, and mr. flea comes home late, she'll sometimes ask for dinner towards the end of the bedtime routine, at 8:45 or so. She's genuinely hungry, not just stalling bedtime (though she is doing that some), so we feed her, figuring night wakiness from hunger is a bad thing.
Health: picture of. We never rescheduled the 2 year well child check, but should measure her becase I'm sure she's lots taller. Strangers assume she's 3, when she actually is 2 and 2 months. No fall colds yet. I am not loking forward to sniffle season.
Temper: as demanding 2 year olds go, not so bad. Still sometimes immediately breaks into whines or tears (which we ignore) when you don't do what she wants immediately. No big tantrums, though.
New tricks: has learned to jump, both feet off the ground, finally. Okay, only 2 inches off the ground. Proud of herself. Amazing talker, singer, listener (except when we WANT her to listen, when she is unaccountably deaf and we have to use Serious Voice.) Sponge brain. Creative. Fascinating. You get the idea. At the art museum yesterday, looking at a Mastisse statue with arms that stopped mid-bicep, "He's broken. His arms are broken. Maybe put some tape to fix it?"
