I'm finally watching the Firefly DVDs veejane left when she was here. Okay, I finally watched the first episode, Serenity, which I'd seen before. We left the commentary track off. I saw maybe 5-6 of the episodes during the series run, and read discussion of all of them.
My non-spoilery comments (and, no, I'm no Nilly):
LOVE Nathan Fillion. When he's talking to Kaylee and says "I'm a mean old man" with this little twitch of the lips, my heart turns over. Or maybe it was some other anatomical reaction.
What I love about Joss isn't the myth or the plotting or anything, though those are all done just fine, it's the dialogue. People don't much talk like his characters do, but they SHOULD. Because I would like them to.

(Gotta say, most of us do the best we can, with lines he's already written)

You're right--dialog is the most brilliant thing Joss Whedon and all his writers did for television.
