I've figured countermanipulation. I put Squeeky to bed, let her protest for a few minutes, go in and check on her, lay her down gently, go out, wait a couple more minutes and then take her out, boob her a few minutes and put her back to bed. By then she really will go to sleep. Sometimes she goes to sleep before I get her up again, but sometimes it just makes her feel like she won, and really *I* win because I stopped her from protesting for half an hour.
