Good Sunday. Casper napped while I gardened again; this is a good routine. It takes a very determined baby to NOT fall asleep in the fresh air and spring sunshine. Then I got her to take a 2 hour nap in the afternoon! I didn't nap myself, but just knowing she was asleep was such a weight off my mind that I was rested anyway. Baked cookies, read a little (still not done with New Yorker on Boaz).

We moved the crib to the bedroom - right now it is shoved up against the bed with no rail on that side, so I can nurse at night. The first night (Sat.) took a little adjustment - mostly because she is used to turning left for the breast in her sleep, and in the new arrangement I'm on the other side! Still has same sleep pattern - we've been very regular the past week or so, with up at 10, 12/12:30, 2/2:30, and 4. But last night she nursed deeply at 10 and 12, and perfunctorily at 4. So maybe instead of cutting out the evening feedings, the 4 am one will go first. She never wakes up hungry in the morning, now that I think of it. And she nurses like a fiend all evening - I often nurse her 4 times between 4:30 and 8pm, plus feeding cereal. So interesting, the human habits and their adaptability.

New foods: avocado, Friday; oatmeal (baby Gerber brand) Sunday. Both taken well. She eats cereal and bananas most enthusiastically - it's pretty easy to get her to eat a tablespoon of cereal now. Bought Whole Foods brand cheerios, but haven't tried them on her - they are quite hard, and she's not sitting up all the way yet. Soonish.

Garden: have a few daffs blooming in the sunniest places. New things in the front bed that were gone by the time we moved in last year - a little crop of bluebells, and some mini daffs (like tete a tete). Planted peas and spinach yesterday. Got a little rain last night, amidst big big winds. Pansies are looking great, especially the least-hybridized tiny ones (they are supposed to self-seed). This week is back to chilly - 50s/40s, maybe danger of frost. Will prolong the daffs which is nice - they are a flash in the pan at 80 degrees.
