pee update

mr. flea (correction: he reports Dillo learned at school) taught Dillo to pee standing up about a week ago. He's a little drippy on the floor after the fact, but hey, three years old. (Note to self: must clean bathrooms more frequently than I am currently doing.)

Dillo has also been dry on wakeup (in diapers) consistently for nearly a week. I think it's too soon to go diaper free overnight, but I think it's a good sign, and maybe we'll start trying in a few weeks.

Squeaky believes that potty training is an evil communist plot. We tried using candy rewards, and he was excited about that for a few days, but then decided that peeing in his diaper was better than getting candy. Then we tried superhero stickers on the Potty Poster, and again, a couple days of excitement, then ::pfft::.

We try taking him to the potty at likely times of day, but he physically resists the whole way, then holds it in while he's on the pot. We tried putting him in undies while he's home, but he happily pees in the undies, and then doesn't tell us.

It's not going well.

I think you need Rahm Emmanuel to call Squeaky and give him the lowdown.

Sorry, I got no secret tricks. Sounds like he knows how but doesn't want to, and the only cure for that is time. The stubbornness of 3 year olds is not to be underestimated.

Squeaky has a total crush on Obama -- maybe if we could get him to do a televised speech to the nation's toddlers about the importance of toilet hygiene?
