this week's escapist fantasy
At Guglhupf, there was a sign posted seeking a full-time pastry chef, no experience necessary, will train the right person.
So, mr. flea should quit this silly old PhD program and apprentice as a fine European pastry chef. Then after a year or two, we move to Woods Hole and settle in at 25Q. mr. flea will peddle pastries (he already makes the best pie most people who eat it have ever tasted) and work on renovating our house, and caring for our children, while I will work in the WHOI library for our health insurance needs. We will be poor but happy artisans. Maybe eventually I'll become a mailman.
mr flea, "These fantasies always depress me because they never come true."
me, "Have we ever even seriously considered trying to make one reality? You can't blame a fantasy for never coming true."
He may have a point though.
